Since 1990 the second last weekend of June is the weekend of the „Schietwettercup“. The word means as much as „bad weather tournament“. Every year teams from Germany, the Baltic States and the rest of Europe meet to fight for the Cup in the biggest 7s tournament in Northern Germany.
Besides high class rugby, the legendary breakfast buffet, the mostly long lasting and spectacular celebrations as well as the possibility to make a visit at the Kieler Woche are a reason for many teams to come to Kiel every year for a summer weekend.
